Caring for puppies and kittens isn’t all play and cuddles—it also involves safeguarding them against internal parasites. Intestinal worms can stunt growth and affect overall health, so having a proper deworming schedule is crucial.
General Guidelines
🍼 Early Start: Begin deworming at 2–3 weeks of age since puppies and kittens can be born with or pick up worms from their mother.
♻️ Routine: Deworm every 2 weeks until they reach 8–12 weeks old, then follow up with monthly preventative (or vet-recommended) treatments.
🔎 Signs of Infestation: Diarrhea, vomiting, pot-bellied appearance, or visible worms in feces.
Choosing the Right Dewormer
🏷️ Broad-Spectrum: Look for products covering roundworms, hookworms, whipworms, and tapeworms.
⚖️ Check Dosage: Adjust according to weight and always follow label instructions.
👩⚕️ Consult a Vet: For personalized advice if you’re unsure.
Fun Fact: 🐛 Roundworms can sometimes be transferred to humans, especially young children. That’s one more reason why regular deworming and good hygiene are so important!
