Which Spectra Shots to Give Puppies—and in What Order

Vaccinating puppies is key to protecting them against serious diseases. Spectra vaccines cover multiple illnesses in one shot, helping make the process more efficient. But which Spectra shot do you start with, and when?

Core Vaccinations

  • 🦠 Diseases: Parvo, Distemper, Adenovirus (Hepatitis), and Parainfluenza are considered core for puppies.

  • 🏷️ Combination Shots: Spectra 5, 6, 7, 9, etc., refer to the number of diseases covered in that vaccine.

Typical Schedule

  1. 🐶 6–8 Weeks: Start with a 5-way or 6-way (Spectra 5 or 6).

  2. 🐕 10–12 Weeks: Booster with a 7-way or 9-way (Spectra 7 or 9).

  3. 🏥 14–16 Weeks: Administer another booster.

  4. 🔒 After 16 Weeks: Rabies vaccine (timing may vary by local law).

Additional Tips

  • 💧 Leptospirosis: If your area is prone, consider a version that includes lepto.

  • 📅 Annual Boosters: Keep your pup’s immunity strong by following yearly or vet-recommended boosters.

Fun Fact: 🐕 “Puppy shots” aren’t just for puppies—adult dogs often need boosters to maintain immunity throughout their lives!
